Here is a slide show of most of the dogs that we have helped, either in Behavior Group Class or privately, in the Tucson area in 2010. Not all the owners signed photo waivers, and there are many dogs and owners that we helped by phone or through the Ask The Trainer page at Tucson Cold Wet Noses website but still gave us testimonials and success stories which you can view here, here and here.

Rehabilitating the Reactive, Shy or Aggressive Dog:

Attend a class designed for dogs that are difficult in normal group classes, that bark, lunge, become excited, reactive or aggressive towards other dogs while on leash. This class is designed to make you a more confident handler with the tools to train, control, relax and refocus your dog.

This course is designed to help you desensitize a dog that is reactive towards unfamiliar dogs or people.. You will learn why your dog behaves reactively, what the triggers are for the behavior, how to reduce reactivity and how to best manage the environment to improve your dog's quality of life. You will learn about brain functions, arousal levels, recovery time, canine communication signals and how to use counter-conditioning and desensitization

Shy Dog Workshop
Shy Dog Class will show you how to safely manage and support your fearful dog. Through reward based training and desensitization, we will help you build your dog's confidence and create a positive environment to ease the fears of your shy companion.

This workshop is intended to give you better insight into your dog's fears and how to better assist your dog in becoming more balanced in the world.

We will engage your dog's natural curiosity, show you how to handle any fear of new objects, people or other dogs and make it safe for your dog to interact with the world around it. This workshop will give you the tools to change your dogs emotions and build her confidence in herself and in you. We will cover the basic principles of TTouch and how to apply them to your dog. Tellington Touch is especially recommended for nervous dogs, fearful dogs, aggressive dogs, or hyperactive dogs.

* Why dogs are afraid
* What fear looks like
* Common myths & misunderstandings
* How to handle a fearful dog
* Training concepts & techniques
* Games & activities
* Medications, supplements & other calming aids
* Special focus on working with dogs with few to no social skills for interacting with people

Classes are 1 hour. $120 for six-week series - maximum 4 dogs. Class starts every week on Wednesday's at 6pm.

Play With Your Dog
We will introduce play training, a method of teaching your dog everything it needs to know to live in a human world. Play and games develop trust and self control between the owner and dog. Play training is a way to teach your dog games that you and your dog can play together. Enjoy discovering these games with your dog. Bring your dog to play with our pack and have fun with an open mind and heart. Playing together will help develop a wonderful relationship between you and your dog.

Chances are, at some stage in your dog’s life it has destroyed something precious when you were not around. But have you ever considered that this is all because your dog is bored?Our dogs get bored, and when they do the results can be disastrous, from digging tunnels to try to escape, to eating the lounge or your favorite shoes.

Like humans, dogs need constant stimulation or they run the risk of getting bored. Put yourself in your dogs’ shoes: would you be bored playing with the same old toys day in day out, or staring at the same old fence all day, every day? Just imagine being forced to watch the same television show every day — that’s how your dog sees your backyard ... the same old show, with the same old noises and same old activities ... B-O-R-I-N-G!

This workshop will cover improving your dog's ability to focus on you and respond to your commands. You will learn how to handle the behaviors that occur because a dog is bored, understimulated, underexercised or just not in tune with the human world. The most common behaviors addressed are barking, chewing, digging and escaping. This workshop is about learning to control your dog's behavior by being meticulous in the way you react to what he does. Once you know how to do that, then, you will know for yourself how to apply those skills to the resolution of any particular problem such as separation anxiety.

* The importance of play
* What causes boredom
* Self and impulse control exercises and behaviors
* Managing your dogs environment
* Management versus training
* Physical & Mental Stimulation

This is an ongoing activity every Saturday evening at 6pm. Maximum of 4 dogs. Price is $15 for one time, 5 sessions for $65, 10 sessions for $120 and 20 sessions for $220.

Out of Control! Surviving Adolescence & Implementing Leadership
Problems occur because exuberant young dogs are unable to use up their abundant energy; in the past, juvenile dogs were just too busy surviving to cause trouble. The dog you want does not just happen all by itself.  You must build the dog of your dreams, slowly, carefully, with knowledge of dog behavior and training techniques, intelligent planning and an inexhaustible sense of humor.

A well-behaved dog is the result of what kind of owner you ARE, rather than what you DO. You should take this class if any of these words fit your dog:  barky, bossy, crazy, destructive, thief, manipulative, fearful, shy, fussy eater, no self-control, mounting, selective hearing, to name just a few issues of the adolescent dog.

With the use of reinforcement and timeouts we teach you and your dog self-control for every part of the dog's life.. To learn, the dog must be able to think and to think requires self-control. What is the opposite of self-control? OUT-OF-CONTROL!!! Being out-of-control is what sends most dogs to the pound. Obedience training by itself does not teach self-control. We start with the absolute basics. We use what the dog wants and show him how to get it in appropriate ways.

You and your dog will learn canine social etiquette, how dogs use body language to avoid conflict and resolve disputes and how to dentify calming signals and signs of stress and arousal in both yoor dog and yourself..

* Human and Canine Attitudes
* 13 practical exercises designed to build leadership
* Reviewing basic obedience commands to reinforce good behavior
* How to praise and correct appropriately
* Laws of Nature from a Dog's Point of View
* Mother knows best

Classes are 1 hour. $120 for six-week series - maximum 4 dogs. Class starts every week on Wednesday's at 9am.

Life Without A Leash - Righteous Recall
Training your dog to walk and act responsibly off-leash is one of the best things you can do for your relationship with your dog. More than a trick to impress your friends and neighbours, off-leash training makes your dog a better citizen, lowers the risk of your dog getting hit by a car and builds your dog’s self-esteem.

This is a great way of training your dog to keep him under control when in public, but also to respond to commands, which can help you avoid trouble if your dog suddenly darts towards an unfriendly dog or out into traffic. Like it’s name indicates, off leash dog training keeps you in control of your dog without the use of a leash.

One of the true tests of a well trained dog is when they obey commands with temptation all around. In the real world there will be cats who dash by, other dogs, garbage to eat, you name it. That's when all the time spent training can really pay off and make your life a lot easier taking your dog out. Off leash training is necessary to achieve a well mannered dog when not on a leash.

Classes are 1 hour. $120 for six-week series - maximum 4 dogs. Class starts every week on Friday's at 9am.

* Your dog will learn to be aware of your location and follow you when you move
* Your dog will learn the rules of the road - stop, wait, cross, down.
* Understanding your dog, his prey and chase drives, and other dangerous behaviors
* Training focus and engagement
* Building trust and respect in your relationship with your dog
